Salisbury is located at the eastern margin of Vermont's Champlain Valley and has about 1000 residents.  Salisbury is 40-60 minutes from Rutland or Burlington, and the largest local employers are in Middlebury, the adjacent town to the north.

One egg farm and several large dairy farms with about 2000 acres of agricultural fields preserve the town's rural character, and are the most important businesses in town.  About half of Salisbury is forested, but outside of the Green Mountain National Forest there is more farmland than forest.
